There is a lot of excuses people have for not exercising. Then they complain that they’re overweight and out of shape. It’s excuse after excuse. Instead of excuses, there should be solutions!
I’m going to start a series about the excuses people make for not exercising and the solutions I have for each excuse. You’ll see these excuses are just that. If you are determined enough, you will find a way to lose the weight you want and feel better.
First excuse isĀ ”I don’t have enough time for exercise.”
We have so many things going on in our lives but I bet you some of it are time wasters if you really think about it. You can find at least 30 minutes for exercise.
Solutions
- If you’re a morning person, wake up 30 minutes earlier to exercise, depending on what you can afford. Start with a couple times a week. If you’re successful then add a day or two. Your body should get accustomed to waking up earlier.
- You don’t have to do your exercise all at one time. You can break it up. For example, you could do 10 minutes in the morning and then 20 minutes after you get home and before dinner. Just whenever you find time. Shorter bursts of exercise still has benefits.
- Bring your exercise clothes to work and exercise during your lunch break. If your company has a gym, then you don’t have far to go. I know downtown here a lot of workers go walking or running along the river. Drive to the gym and shower there before coming back. Pack a lunch that day and you can have it at your desk.
- If you have a DVR, you can record your favorite TV show and watch it anytime. So instead of sitting on the couch after dinner, go out for that run or to the gym. On the weekends you can watch your TV show and fast forward through the commercials. In a 1 hour show, there is 20 minutes of commercials. So it saves time too!
- On the weekends, think of some outside activities you can do with your family. Bike rides, trip to the pool, rock climbing.
So you just need to be creative and plan. I personally exercise in the morning. I get up earlier than I need to. For me, I like to get my exercise out of the way so I can focus the rest of the day on other things. I also know if I don’t exercise in the morning, I’m less motivated to exercise the rest of the day. So I know the best time for me!
